Former Chief Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court of Massachusetts, “Brownie,” as he’s known to colleagues and friends, brings to the firm more than 40 years of trial experience. As a litigator with Mountain, Dearborn & Whiting from 1964–1993, he specialized in complex business cases.
While serving as a federal judge from 1993–2006, Brownie presided over numerous trials and mediated more than 100 cases involving disputes over contracts, business/commercial law, professional liability, employment, civil rights, copyright and patents, personal injury, product liability, ERISA, insurance and construction.
Well-respected for his ability to resolve challenging conflicts, Brownie is known for his insight, sensitivity and knowledge of the law, as well as his skill at managing complex discovery disputes. He has been of counsel to the firm since 2006.
