An expert in estate planning and estate and trust administration, Tom began his law career at a major firm in Newark, N.J., working with William Brennan prior to his appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court. He was persuaded to come to Worcester by Wayne Sibley, a family friend and nephew of the firm’s founder, Willis Sibley. Tom gladly relinquished his long commute from Morristown to Newark and joined Sibley, Blair & Young in 1948. He hired Dick Dearborn, a fellow Harvard Law graduate, in 1952.

As the firm evolved to become Mountain, Dearborn & Whiting, Tom carefully guided the practice to maintain high standards of excellence for reasonable fees. He continues to find the practice of law rewarding and stimulating, and values the closeness and camaraderie among colleagues that distinguishes Mountain Dearborn.

In addition to counseling clients on wills, trusts, powers of attorney and health care proxies, Tom assists individuals with special needs planning, charitable giving and estate tax returns.
